A study from the Spine Research Institute at The Ohio State University shows that perching promotes movement, comfort, and a healthy spine curvature.

It’s been well documented that sitting all day may lead to an increased risk of obesity, low back pain, and even some types of cancer. However, many studies proving this have failed to offer a clear alternative.

Recently, researchers at the Spine Research Institute at The Ohio State University studied the effects of three different workstations – Standing, Sitting, and Perching* – on the body. In the study, the researchers tested how much movement each workstation encouraged, the amount of pressure each workstation put on the spine, and overall comfort.

Turns out the results are pretty fascinating. Perching promotes a good balance of moderate, supported movement, comfort, and encourages a healthy spine curvature.

We know which workstation Goldilocks would have chosen.
