In a talk at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference in San Francisco on Tuesday, Tim Cook, Apple’s visionary CEO, said “sitting is the new cancer.”
And he’s right.
Sitting for prolonged periods has been shown to pose serious health risks for deskbound workers. In fact, a new review of 47 studies published in January 2015 backed up that conclusion, citing increased risk of heart disease, cancer and Type 2 diabetes as being linked to prolonged sitting, regardless of other physical activity.
